I'm a co-founder at Responsive and a database engineer at heart. I spend most of my time building storage engines, streaming systems, and the developer tools around them.
I write about databases, storage internals, and distributed systems at bitsxpages.com.
My professional work is in the data infrastructure space:
- SlateDB: A cloud-native embedded storage engine built on object storage. I'm one of the top contributors and a maintainer of the project.
- OpenData: An open-source platform for building databases (e.g. vector, log, tiemseries) on top of SlateDB. I'm one of the founding members of the project
- yuzudraw: An ASCII diagramming tool designed for both humans and AI agents. Built as a native macOS application.
- tuicr: A TUI for human-in-the-loop code review of AI-generated changes. Built in Rust.
Before starting Responsive, I was a core engineer at Confluent where I helped maintain ksqlDB (700+ commits). I'm also a contributor to:
- Apache Kafka: Kafka Streams internals, processor supplier migrations, iterator bug fixes
- Apache Pinot: Realtime distributed OLAP datastore
