When running chezmoi init, how can I return the resulting url from the guess feature?

So when running chezmoi init someuser, how can you see what the guessed url is based on someuser before running the actual init command? With the --dry-run flag, nothing is returned, which makes sense. Trying to find a way to have this resulting guessed url to be returned...

Have you tried --debug ?

Interesting take to use the --debug flag, I could parse that... I get some indication of the constructed url but not yet the full url but I'll have a closer look at the --debug flag for sure.

After authenticating I see the full url.

It would be nice if you issue chezmoi --dry-run init guessmetest, what the guessed url and full init command would be. (also depending on passing the --ssh flag)
I love the guess feature, it works as expected and it would be nice if there was a way to check it before actually running the command.
Something I'd like to suggest, but maybe a bad idea, is to return this when running chezmoi init with the --dry-run flag.

I would translate the Go code into Python. You'll need to use Python's regular expression library (re) and will probably be best served with the re.sub function.

I understand but would prefer to somehow directly use the existing chezmoi code. I'll looking into Foreign function interface...

I'm about to publish supporting chezmoi init! (without repo arg, will continue to work on it!)

I strongly recommend that you don't do this. Calling one language from another is a very difficult problem and, even in the best case, will add a huge amount of complexity to your project. But how you spend your time is up to you...

In hindsight it was easy to determine that only the directory is created, as there is no .git folder.
Anyway I implemented chezmoi init!
Now I still need to implement init by cloning a repo, and then I'll have 99% of the features I use myself, but there's so much more, it's pretty incredible how many features chezmoi has.
