Description

Describe the bug

Running GitHub Copilot for Xcode versions > 0.42.0 hangs about 30 seconds after starting.

Versions

  • Copilot for Xcode: currently 0.47.0, but also occurs on (at least) 0.44.0—0.46.0
  • Xcode: 26.2
  • macOS: 15.7.3 (also occurred in earlier 15.7.x versions)

Steps to reproduce

  1. Install any version of GitHub Copilot for Xcode 0.44+
  2. Launch Xcode
  3. Open existing project
  4. Note that app (GitHub Copilot for Xcode.app) does not launch automatically, despite being set to in preferences
  5. Launch app in Finder
  6. Watch in Activity Monitor as app launches, then 30—60 seconds after launch, goes red with (Not Responding)
  7. Note console message at the time of the process going red:
  8. GitHub Copilot for Xcode Extens [4954]: spin: not sampling due to conditions 0x400000000 (additional log posted below, occurred earlier)

Additional context
I had updated from 0.42.0 to 0.44.0 a while ago, and had this same issue, then reverted back to 0.42.0 after seeing post in Community discussion about this issue.

Issue occurs whether updating in-place, or deleting older version and installing from new via .dmg file. Issue survives quitting both apps and relaunching, and shutting down computer and restarting.
