Log Size Control and Rotation

As an user I want to know the size of all BMC logs, also I want to know whether the logs are getting rotated based on the available non-volatile storage.

I want to test the system's ability to handle the collection of large log files via Redfish without timing out or failing and the Redfish interface behaves gracefully when there are no logs to collect. I want to check the limit of the file size (e.g > 1GB) so that I can design the test step accordingly. Do Whether in R470 & R570 is there any option to verify Log size, log creation & log rotation policy on Size limit?

Yes I went though this document. But can you please confirm how to validate any particular LC log reaches to 800KB? how to check any particular log size? what is the limit of number of the non-archiving log entires? Also how to validate the non-archiving log entry size? As per the document the non-archiving logs should be less than 800KB but how we can validate that?

I tried to find through the redfishtool log but there is nothing related to that.

iDRAC interfaces currently do not support reporting what the current LC log file size is or when log rotation will occur. From Redfish we only report the max number of records LC logs can accept which is 500000 (/redfish/v1/Managers/iDRAC.Embedded.1/LogServices/Lclog?$select=MaxNumberOfRecords).

But when log rotation does occur internally by iDRAC you will see event LOG203 logged in the LC logs.

To validate the max size of the LC logs which includes all archived entries use OEM action DellLCService.ExportLCLog. This will generate an XML file containing all entries, view the file size to get this data.

There is no property in the XML file which states the file size, you must use explorer to see the file size.
