[Feature] Built-in Job Application Tracker (Personal ATS)

Feature Description

Add a Job Application Tracker.

Currently, Reactive Resume is an excellent tool for creating resumes, but users still need to rely on external tools (Excel, Notion, Trello, or dedicated ATS trackers like Huntr/Teal) to track where they have sent them.

This feature would allow users to:

1. Create a "Job" entry with metadata (Company, Title, URL, Location).
2. Crucial: Link a specific existing Resume (ID) to that Job Application.
3. Track the status of the application (e.g., Wishlist, Applied, Interview, Offer, Rejected).
4. Store the Job Description (for context during interviews or in the future AI context).

UI/UX Suggestions:

• A new sidebar item: /jobs.
• Kanban Board View: Drag-and-drop cards between status columns.
• Detail View: A modal or page to paste the Job Description, add notes, and see a button: "View Resume used for this application".

I do like this idea, and really important for mass applications. I'll give it some more thought, and come up with an implementation plan.

In the mean time, if you have any more ideas on how you would like to see this feature implemented, are there any specific things you track when applying for jobs, what does your Excel sheet contain , without revealing too much, so I know how to design the user interface, that would be extremely helpful!

@kelwynOliveira what did you use to make these screenshots btw? They are super helpful and very close to how I imagine it to be. Is this something you already implemented on a fork of your own?

Glad you liked the screenshots! To answer your question: I used Antigravity (AI) to generate those UI components and mockups based on the current Reactive Resume design system. I haven’t implemented this in a fork yet, my goal was mainly to visualize how a Kanban view and a Detail view would feel when integrated into the existing sidebar.

Regarding my workflow and what I usually track in my spreadsheets, these are the core columns/fields I rely on:

• Company Name & Job Title

• Application Status
  (Submitted, Rejected, Interview, Offer, Ghosted)
  This is essential for understanding which resumes are actually performing better.

• Resume Sent
  The exact resume version I used for that application.
  In the app, this could be a dropdown to select a specific resume from Reactive Resume, enabling proper A/B testing across different CV versions.

• Application Date
  Useful for tracking follow-ups and measuring the overall duration of each hiring process.

• Job URL
  Link to the original job posting.

• Location
  Remote, Hybrid, or On-site (City/Country).

• Salary / Budget
  Either the offered range or my expected salary for that role.

• Job Description
  Crucial for two main reasons:

  1. Quick reference before interviews.

  2. Future AI integrations. For example, comparing the JD against the selected resume to generate a “Match Score.”

  Before sending a resume, I usually ask an AI tool to score how well it matches the job description.

• Notes / Comments
  Space for interview feedback, recruiter or contact names, and culture-fit observations.

• Application Method

  • Platforms: LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor

  • Direct: Email, company website

  • Social / Networking: WhatsApp, Telegram, Twitter/X, LinkedIn chat

  • Referral

  This helps identify which application channels lead to more interviews.

• Cover Letter
  Link or full text of the cover letter used.

In the future, I think there’s a big opportunity to provide users with automated charts and meaningful insights. This would help shift the platform from simple document management to something closer to career strategy.

By tracking job applications in a structured way, we could unlock features like:

• Conversion Funnel
  A visual view of the candidate’s journey, from application to offer. This makes it much easier to spot where momentum is being lost, whether at the initial resume screening or later interview stages.

• Resume Performance Analytics
  Since applications can be linked to specific resume versions, we can show which CV performs best.

• Source Effectiveness
  A breakdown of which channels (LinkedIn, cold emails, referrals, etc.) actually lead to interviews. This helps users focus their time on what works for them, instead of spreading effort across low-return platforms.

• Response Time Metrics
  Visualizing the average time between “Applied” and “First Contact” can help users set expectations, plan follow-ups, and reduce the anxiety that often comes with waiting.

Overall, this data layer could be a strong differentiator for Reactive Resume. It would help users understand not just how to apply, but where and why they’re most successful.

+1 on this. I strongly agree with the need to manage and track applications to multiple companies directly within the app. I’ve been thinking about this "Application Tracking" concept myself.

I would actually love to extend Reactive Resume to include Cover Letters. I think this fits perfectly with the proposed tracking feature:

If we implement an "Application" or "Job" entity to track the status for a specific company, this would be the perfect container to hold not just the tailored Resume variant, but also the specific Cover Letter for that position. This way, users can manage the entire application package (Resume + Cover Letter) per company.

I am willing to help with the implementation of this. @amruthpillai , how would you like to proceed? Should I draft a separate RFC/Issue to discuss the data model for this combined "Application/Cover Letter" approach, or should we collaborate on a solution here?

@ffischbach The new version actually has a feature to be able to write cover letters as well, if I'm not mistaken.
