We're experiencing performance problems when using AVPro Video on custom Android devices powered by Rockchip SoCs (specifically RK3588S and RK3566). When playing video through our app using AVPro, we encounter noticeable lag and stuttering. However, the same video plays smoothly when using native video players or third-party apps like VLC on the same hardware.

It's worth noting that our app runs without any issues on a wide range of other devices, including Pico G2, G3, 4 Ultra, and Quest 2 and 3.

This leads us to believe the issue may be related to how AVPro interacts with Rockchip-specific hardware or codecs. Has anyone else encountered similar behavior, or are there any known workarounds or settings we should try?

Media player settings is pretty simple:

Unity version: 6000.3.7f1

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

For lower-end devices we would recommend using OpenGLES with OES rendering.

What sort of media are you trying to play? (resolution/codec/ fps/bitrate etc)

We use "Display uGUI" component. As I understand instead of this component I should create OESMaterial and assign it to my image. And add ApplyToMaterial (with link to new material) component to the same GameObject as MediaPlayer attached?

Assuming you haven't used a custom material, the DisplayUGUI component will configure itself appropriately so all you need to do is set the texture output mode on the media player to YCbCr420 to use the OES fast path when the OpenGLES rendering path is in use.

With Vulkan we have to internally copy the texture which can lead to poor performance on lower spec'd devices.

Thanks, that helped, but after this change, Logcat is being spammed with errors:

I tried to ask LLMs about this error, but they can't help

That sounds like a driver error. Which version of Android does it run?

Could you send the full unfiltered logcat from when you start the app please, as it provides a bit more information for us.
Also, specifically, what devices are you using, not just the chipset? We'd like to see if we can get the same thing for testing in the office.

• XSeries AIBOX 8+64G Android 12
• Orange Pi 5 Pro Android 12

Also it seem like this errors don't affect to playback (but may be to performance)
